I am a long-time follower of Electoral-Vote.com, a site published by 2 academics: one in Los Angeles, the other one in the Netherlands. They guy in the Netherlands has published many IT books, and was the author of an early OS. I wouldn't be surprised if our host knows him.

I've search through their archives, as it was an article by them that presented that formula. That once a candidate's popular vote margin is 3% or greater, it is mathematically impossible for the loser of the popular vote margin to achieve the necessary 270+ Electoral College votes.

If I find that article, I'll post it as a thread here. But I wanted to get back to you on your question.

Having said that, over the past few weeks momentum has switched back to Trump. According to RCP aggregate polling, if the election were to be held tomorrow, Trump would win comfortably.

Had her lead from a few weeks ago plateaued I believe her team would have been content to keep her under wraps and run out the clock. Her recent media blitz hasn't moved the needle in her favor.

If Trump continues to gain momentum I really think she has only one card left to play and that is to as tactfully as possible throw Biden under the bus, specifically, his policies. "A new way forward" doesn't work when she says she can't think of anything she would have done differently than Biden.

My gut tells me Harris will eke this out.

I get that you are Canadian and the culture there is different than in the US along with the differences in the structure of the 2 governments. That might cloud your viewpoint of American politics and culture a bit. I'd be curious to see that article as well, since it seems to go against the very purpose of the electoral college, having a president elected by the states not the citizens, which would allow large states to run roughshod over the rights of small states.
